Professional Trainning
Marta is a trained Clinical Psychologist and studied for five years in Lisbon at Universidade Lusofona de Humanidades e Tecnologia, where she obtained a Licenciatura degree , the equivalent of a MSc. Specializing in working with children and families. Marta's internship, in 1999, was working with a broad
range of patients at Santa Maria's Hospital Paediatric ward in Lisbon,
providing counseling and therapy to both children and their parents.
In 2000, Marta continued her
training in London at the Tavistock Clinic. She followed her passion for
working with children and completed her Master in Arts on Psychoanalytical Observational
Studies. Where she gained knowledge and developed skills in child development, working with adolescents, parents and the dynamics of a
family within a psychoanalytical perspective.
For six years, from 2002 to 2008, Marta worked
as a Counsellor at Grasmere Primary School in London, providing psychotherapy
for children and their parents, her role included supporting the school's staff.
Marta enhanced her studies by training with
Roger Woolger, Ph.D. (the creator of Deep Memory Process), where she trained as
a DMP therapist.
Deep Memory Process is a regression therapy that helps
to transform and release trauma from the body, mind and emotions in a single
comprehensive process. With this technique, Marta can help people work through
childhood traumas and past memories in need of resolution. For additional
information on DMP see the Deep Memory Process page or e-mail me if you
have any questions.
In 2010, Belle, a six-year-old Yorkshire
Terrier, has joined Marta’s practice. Through the use of Animal Assisted Therapy
(AAT) the physical, social, emotional and cognitive functions are improved in
the patient. AAT also provides educational and motivational effectiveness for
participants.
